When I first met Amy over coffee I wrote in my notes that she had “twinkly eyes”.
It’s a funny thing to remember about someone years later, but it ended up describing her perfectly. Amy has the kind of joy that’s impossible to fake. She radiates kindness in a way that immediately puts people at ease, and it didn’t take long to realize Charley shares that same warmth. Together, they’re the kind of couple who make everyone around them feel welcomed.
Watching them finally become husband and wife felt like watching two people exactly where they were always meant to be.
Amy and Charley first met in college, and years later, they exchanged vows at the beautiful Historic St. Mary Church in German Village—the very neighborhood they live in.
There’s something especially meaningful about getting married in a place that’s woven into your everyday life. The streets, the brick sidewalks, the historic architecture… these aren’t simply beautiful backdrops to them. They’re part of their story.
The ceremony was timeless and heartfelt, surrounded by the people who have watched their relationship grow from college sweethearts into lifelong partners.
When Amy told me they would be celebrating at Franklin Park Conservatory, I couldn’t have been happier.
It’s no secret that Franklin Park Conservatory is one of my favorite wedding venues in Columbus. Between the botanical gardens, incredible architecture, and constantly changing seasonal blooms, every visit feels a little different while remaining unmistakably elegant.
It creates such a beautiful balance between sophisticated design and natural beauty, making it the perfect setting for a couple like Amy and Charley.
Every wedding has beautiful flowers and carefully chosen décor. The weddings that stay with me are the ones filled with deeply personal moments.
Karima with Planning Bee did an incredible job bringing Amy’s vision to life. Every space felt intentional without ever feeling overdone, allowing the evening to feel elegant, inviting, and full of personality.
Cocktail hour was one of my favorite parts of the day.
As guests wandered through the conservatory, Tiffany Jones performed live on the harp. Instead of traditional background music, she surprised everyone by playing Charley’s favorite selections from The Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
Watching his face as he recognized the music was one of those quiet moments I’ll never forget.
After photographing weddings for more than fourteen years, it’s becoming increasingly rare for something to happen that I’ve never seen before. Just before open dancing began, Irish step dancers took over the dance floor for a surprise performance.
It was completely unexpected, incredibly entertaining, and had the entire room smiling from ear to ear. Watching guests cheer them on before everyone flooded the dance floor was one of those unforgettable moments that reminds me every wedding has the ability to surprise you.
It’s exactly the kind of thoughtful, joyful touch that reflected Amy and Charley so well.
When I think back on Amy and Charley’s wedding, I won’t just remember the beautiful gardens or the historic church.
Most of all, I’ll remember two incredibly kind people whose joy naturally overflowed onto everyone around them.
It was an absolute honor to celebrate alongside them, and I have no doubt their marriage will be just as joyful as the wedding day that began it.
Congratulations, Amy and Charley. Thank you for inviting Cody and I to preserve such a beautiful chapter of your story.
