Melinda and Andrew are from California, so the only opportunity that I had to spend time with them before their big wedding day was shortly before at a Stauf’s in Grandview. Normally, I get nervous before weddings where I haven’t had a chance to do an engagement shoot with a couple. But I could tell from the first time I sat down with them over drinks that they were going to be so easy to get to know and love. Melinda looked absolutely STUNNING, and Andrew just had this ease about him. He was full of smiles and just happy to see his friends and family. Something special about this crowd was just how tight their families seemed! I took probably the largest extended family photo I’ve ever taken in my life, and watching all the cousins surround Andrew’s grandfather for photos and during dances just did my heart so good. Their family even has a trophy they pass around to the newlyweds. I would love to start a tradition like that in my own family. The day was so joyous, and we were happy to be a part of it.
