One of my favorite parts of traveling is finding opportunities to create. Whether it’s wandering a new neighborhood with my camera or meeting people who are willing to share a place they love, I always come home feeling inspired by the beauty I get to witness.
While I was visiting Los Angeles, I knew I wanted to spend as much time photographing as possible. Thankfully, Yeahwon reached out and offered to show me one of her favorite hidden gems: the breathtaking shoreline at El Matador Beach.
The moment we walked down the winding path toward the ocean, I understood why she loved it so much. Towering cliffs, sea caves, dramatic rock formations, and the soft California light created the dreamiest backdrop for an evening together.
Of course, the ocean had a few plans of its own.
What started as us carefully dipping our toes into the surf quickly turned into all three of us laughing as waves rushed farther up the beach than we expected. Shoes came off, pant legs got soaked, and before long we had completely embraced the adventure. Those are always my favorite moments—the ones you could never plan but somehow become the memories you cherish most.
More than anything, I loved getting to document the effortless connection between Yeahwon and Alex. They have the kind of chemistry that doesn’t need much direction. The quiet smiles, playful laughter, and little glances they shared made photographing them feel incredibly natural. It was less about posing and more about simply giving them space to enjoy one another while I documented it all.
Sessions like this remind me why I love destination photography so much. Every city has its own personality, but it’s the people who make a place unforgettable.
Yeahwon and Alex, thank you for welcoming me into your corner of Los Angeles. Thank you for sharing your favorite beach, for embracing getting a little wetter than any of us expected, and for making me feel like I was spending the evening with friends rather than clients. Your kindness and genuine joy made this one of my favorite memories from my trip, and I hope these photographs always remind you of this beautiful evening by the sea.
