Some love stories begin when you least expect them—and sometimes, they begin on a pickleball court.
When Erica moved to Naples just before the world slowed down in 2020, she couldn’t have known how perfect the timing would be. She was there to spend more time with her parents, making memories and—perhaps most importantly—playing pickleball with her mom. It was during one of those games that she met Tyler… and the rest, as they say, is history.
Fast forward to their wedding day, set at Erica’s parents’ breathtaking home back in Ohio. Their property is tucked along the river, with a dramatic quarry wall rising behind them—a truly unique and stunning backdrop for the most meaningful of celebrations. I had the pleasure of meeting Erica’s mom months before the wedding as she carefully envisioned transforming their backyard into an elegant, tented affair. I loved knowing this wasn’t just a venue for them—it was home. A place they’ll return to for holidays, family dinners, and quiet weekends, forever holding the memory of this day.
As the wedding approached, all eyes were on the forecast. Planning an outdoor wedding always comes with a little extra anticipation, and the rain that threatened that morning certainly kept everyone on their toes. But what stood out most to me was Erica’s calm, joyful spirit. The only thing she was focused on was seeing Tyler.
Their first look was, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful I’ve ever photographed. The clouds were low and heavy, the air electric with the hum of approaching rain—but in that quiet moment, it was as if time stopped. They saw each other for the first time, eyes shining, hands reaching for one another… and then, just as the first raindrops began to fall, they slipped onto the front stoop of her parents’ home to exchange private vows. The soft rumble of thunder in the distance only made it feel more intimate, more cinematic. It couldn’t have been planned more perfectly—it simply was, just as it was meant to be.
The celebration that followed was filled with those same heartfelt, intentional details. Their choreographed first dance was such a fun, elegant touch, and one of my favorite moments of the evening was Erica’s surprise tribute to her mom—a sweet nod to their Gilmore Girls bond, complete with a special mother-daughter dance that had everyone smiling.
Despite the rain, despite the unpredictable summer skies, this day was flawless. A reflection of two people who found each other in the most unexpected way, surrounded by the people who love them most, at home.
Erica and Tyler, thank you for letting me be part of such a meaningful chapter in your story. I hope every visit back to your parents’ home brings you right back to this day—the laughter, the quiet vows, the rain, the joy.
