This was such a special session to me, because I got to bring along my family! I first met the Clarks during Kristi and Kyle’s engagement last fall. They had just purchased the “Bootlegger Farm” and were busy renovating it. Apparently, the old owners used to illegally distill whiskey and sell it to Delaware hotels. To cover up the smell, chickens took up shop on the first floor of the farmhouse. I remember when I first talked with Elise, we found that we both had daughters the same age, and they seemed VERY similar in personality. We joked how they would probably like to meet each other.
It was time for the Clark’s very own photos at the family farm, so Elise invited the girls to come along so they could meet the new pig, Pua (Moana anyone?) I consider myself a city-girl, but I think after spending the evening with them, I may have been converted to wanting the country life. Pua was so incredibly smart, and I learned that pigs can SMILE. We ended the evening with some grilled cheese and smores and new friends. Not to mention, I think it’s the only instance where I get sent home with farm-fresh eggs. It was the best.
