Layne and Ryan have the most epic engagement story. Ryan wanted to propose in a really romantic way in Florida, because he says that Layne is a sucker for Hallmark moments. But they seemed to run into many obstacles. The first night he took her to a romantic dinner and wanted to get down on one knee on the beach, but they ran into what they described as a “torrential downpour”. Ryan had to make sure to tell all their friends the proposal was delayed, so they didn’t accidentally spill the secret. As their trip progressed, someone hit their rental car, and they were rained out of their date at Universal Studios. When he finally was able to propose, it was too dark to take pictures and the next day the Red Tide meant that the beach was littered with dead fish (they had to photoshop it all out of the photos). I loved that when they told me this saga, they were laughing so hard. They had such good humor about it and knew it made for a good story. The truth is, marriage can be a lot like that epic beach vacation. If you can face it with your best friend and turn it into laughter, you will be in a good place. I can’t wait to see the rest of their story.
