Bryn Du Mansion Summer Wedding | Erin and Austen

I often tell couples when I meet with them that I’m wary of a wedding being too much of a production. Stunning venues, thoughtful details, and epic photos are all very nice, but I am reminded each week that weddings are really JUST about two people committing to each other. There’s something beautiful about simplicity, and the kind of stress-free day that comes with remembering that. Erin and Austen are the epitomy of knowing what a wedding day is about. They embraced more meaningful events like the “cutting of the sheet” (A German tradition for Erin’s family) in lieu of wedding traditions like a wedding party or cutting the cake.

What resulted, was one of the most peaceful wedding days that I have been to. The getting ready process was so calm and serene, Erin walked down to the aisle to The Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens, and many tears were shed. Some of my favorite moments were Erin and Austen each carrying one of Austen’s mother’s rings close to their heart to remember her, the mama bird feeding her baby birds on the deck while everyone celebrated, and an impromptu arm-wrestling competition between husband and wife. We were honored to be there.
